The Permaculture Noosa Community Pavilion (also known as the Bendigo Bank Community Pavilion) at the Cooroy Community Gardens is a vibrant example of sustainable, inclusive, community-led design. Designed collaboratively with Ecolibrium from 2020 and completed in stages through to 2023, the pavilion represents a shared vision for connection, education, wellbeing, and environmental stewardship, shaped by volunteers, local organisations, grant funding partners, and the wider community.

A standout feature of the project was its hands-on natural building workshops, where participants learned traditional cob-building techniques and helped construct the pavilion’s cob walls, turning the build itself into a capacity-building and skills-sharing exercise.

Today, the pavilion is a welcoming community hub for workshops, shared meals, harvest swaps, sustainability education, gardening activities, cultural events, and community connection, supporting social inclusion across ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The project strongly aligns with the 2026 Sunshine Coast Open House theme of Sustainable Inclusive Design through its use of natural materials, regenerative design principles, and focus on social wellbeing and environmental responsibility.
