Local landscape architects Sarah Chalkley and Shaun Walsh and will discuss the importance of design and landscape for the future of the Noosa region. Sarah will focus on the notion of “Cool Streets” and the ongoing application to the special Noosa character and sense of place. Shaun will focus on the “Spaces around Buildings” that have created a unique identity for Noosa from the macro scale surrounding our urban development, to the intimate scale surrounding specific buildings.
Sarah Chalkley is an urban designer, landscape architect, design facilitator and author with a passion for community-focused design advocacy. She was the Manager of City Integration for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, and is currently involved in the design visioning and legacy planning for the 2032 Summer Olympics in Brisbane.
Shaun Walsh is a qualified landscape architect with over 30 years experience in landscape architecture, town planning and environmental management. Shaun is permanently based in the Noosa Hinterland and works from his studio in a large garden setting in Black Mountain, Noosa Shire, with a dedicated focus on landscape architectural services in the Sunshine Coast, Mary Valley and Wide Bay Areas. He draws from his diverse career for local, state and federal government as well as private consultancy.
